Exercises to Lose Weight – HIIT Training

Exercises to Lose Weight

Whether you’re 20lbs overweight or 5lbs overweight, some of the best exercises to lose weight can be found in a HIIT workout. Personally speaking, it’s the very best cardio for weight loss. While you can achieve your weightloss goal by combining diet, strength training, as well as steady state cardio, HIIT can take your fat burning to the next level.

Exercuses to Lose Weight – What exactly is HIIT?

HIIT stands for high intensity interval training. The essential premise behind HIIT is that you work really hard for a short burst and then have an active recovery period. Example, you may do sprints for 30 seconds to a minute, and then you would jog for 20-40 seconds. For the best results you should repeat this workout routine several times.

Exercuses to Lose Weight - The Benefits of HIIT

A HIIT workout offers myriad benefits. First, HIIT gives your legs a fantastic workout. If you perform HIIT a few times per week, you probably don’t even need to do strength training for your legs, unless you have a desire for bigger legs. And more importantly, HIIT is one of the best ways to burn fat. These intense intervals of exercise will release fatty acids into your bloodstream. Additionally, HIIT results in increased HGH levels. HGH is a hormone that will help burn fat, and preserve your muscle. Finally, and possibly most importantly, HIIT results in EPOC, an after-burn effect which causes you to burn calories for hours after your workout is completed.

Exercuses to Lose Weight - The Drawbacks of HIIT

HIIT is not perfect believe it or not. The main problem with HIIT routines is that it can be rough on the joints, which means for people with joint problems this probably is not for you.

Exercuses to Lose Weight - The Best Cardio For Weight Loss

Personally, the best type of cardio for weight loss uses these HIIT workout routines resulting in a strong HGH release, release of fatty acids, glycogen depletion, and calorie burning. The first part of the workout is short interval HIIT with a long recovery ratio. For these intervals, you sprint 15 seconds and recover (jog) for 45 seconds. This releases fatty acids and increases HGH levels. I prefer to warm up for 2 minutes and then perform 8 sets of this type of HIIT for a total workout of 10 minutes.

For the second phase, I perform 25 minutes of steady state cardio (light paced jog or exercise bike). This will give your muscles an active recovery period for your muscles. Additionally, steady state cardio helps burn the fatty acids that short interval HIIT released into the bloodstream.

The final phase is performing long interval HIIT with short recovery periods. This will probably deplete your body of most of its glycogen which will allow a greater after-burn effect and fat burning after you have completed your workout. I perform 1 minute sprint intervals with 1 minute of jogging. The sprint intervals for this portion are not as intense as the first phase, by necessity as your muscles will be slightly tiredIt is probably better to keep this last phase to 10 minutes or less as well.

So there you have a 45 minute HIIT workout that I believe contains some of the best exercises to lose weight, and is the best cardio for weight loss. This workout will enable you to burn body fat quickly and allow you to reach your weight loss goal

Here are some recommendations for people who are interested in losing weight.

The Insanity workout program, this is probably one of the best HIIT workout programs on the market, I have personally used it and it works like a charm. However, this program is for people who are already in relatively good shape, this program is not for beginners! And right now it only ships within the United States, and Canada. For anyone who is new to exercising, I would recommend the Kettlebell Revolution workout program. This is great for beginners and there is very little equipment needed.
